Why a combined P15-D24 site ?
Following the end of WWII, new automobiles were in very short supply. Chrysler provided Plymouths as a low cost series, with Dodge being the "step up" model with more options. The high end upscale models were DeSoto and Chrysler. The P15 and D24 shared many common engineering characteristics, including engines, transmission, drivetrain and braking systems. Required mechanical skills, parts and maintenance were common to both cars. As the upscale model, the Dodge had refinements such as Fluid Drive transmission, automatic choke and larger brakes. If you can work on one you know how to work on the other ! Plus, I have both a Plymouth and Dodge ! This homogenous design cumulated in the Canadian produced 1946-1948 Dodge D25 Model. It features a Plymouth body dressed in Dodge trim !
